Terms

Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of Speed Cams, in plain language: what is free, what Speed Cams Premium costs you and how to cancel it, and what the app's alerts can and can't promise.

Effective

The short version

  • The camera map is free. Speed Cams Premium is a subscription. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial if the App Store offers them one. After that it renews automatically until you cancel.
  • You cancel through Apple, in the Settings app on your device, at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • Alerts are information, not a guarantee. Posted signs and the law always govern, and the camera list may be incomplete. Drive by the road, not by the app.

These terms and Apple's EULA

These terms cover the Speed Cams app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch (“Speed Cams: Camera Alerts” on the App Store), including its widgets, Live Activity, controls and Siri shortcuts. “We” and “us” means the developer who publishes the app, named as the seller on its App Store page.

The app is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These terms add to that agreement. If you use the app, you agree to both. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

How the app handles your information is explained in the Privacy Policy.

Free and Premium

The camera map is free: the map, camera details, the camera list, the guide and camera data updates need no payment and no account.

Speed Cams Premium is an auto-renewable subscription, offered by the week, month or year. It adds Drive mode, camera alerts, Background Alerts, street speed limits, trips, and the next camera on your Lock Screen, Apple Watch and Home Screen. Without an active subscription or free trial, those features stop and the camera map stays.

The price of each plan, in your currency, is shown in the app before you buy and on your Apple confirmation screen. Your purchase is made with Apple, and payment is charged to your Apple Account.

New subscribers who are eligible get a 7-day free trial, and the app shows it before you start. A free trial is available once per Apple Account. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, the subscription you chose begins and your Apple Account is charged. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy another plan, where Apple's rules apply.

Automatic renewal

Your subscription renews automatically for the same length, until you cancel it. Your Apple Account is charged for the next period within 24 hours before the current one ends, at the price then in effect. If the price goes up, Apple tells you first, and asks for your consent where the law or its rules require it.

If a renewal payment fails, Apple may keep trying to collect it. Premium may keep working during that time, but it can stop if the payment isn't resolved.

Cancelling and refunds

Apple manages your subscription, so you cancel through Apple, not through us. Open the Settings app on your device, tap your name, then Subscriptions, or tap Manage Subscription in the app's Settings. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid the next charge. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

After you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. If you subscribed on another device or moved to a new one, tap Restore Purchases in the app.

Refunds are handled by Apple under its own rules. You can ask for one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds ourselves.

Alerts are informational

The app tells you where public information says speed safety cameras and red-light cameras are, and shows speed limits. All of that is information to help you pay attention. It is not legal advice, and it is not a statement of what any sign, camera or law says at a given place and moment.

Posted signs and the law govern, always. If the app and a sign disagree, the sign is right. The app shows a speed from GPS, which can differ from your speedometer. An alert, or the lack of one, is no defense to a ticket, and you alone are responsible for obeying traffic laws and paying any fine.

Driving safely

Set the app up before you set off and keep your eyes on the road. Don't touch your phone while driving unless the law allows it and it is safe to do so. Follow the law on where a phone may be mounted and how it may be used.

No warranty of completeness

Camera locations, statuses, speed limits and fines are compiled from public sources and change without notice. They may be incomplete, late or wrong: a camera may be missing or marked in the wrong place, and an alert may come late or not at all. Alerts depend on your device, its location accuracy, its permissions and settings, and iOS.

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't promise that it is complete, accurate or uninterrupted, or that it will help you avoid a ticket. Some places don't allow these exclusions, so they may not all apply to you.

Speed Cams is not affiliated with any city, agency or camera operator.

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for tickets, fines, accidents, or indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the app or from relying on it. Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have that the law says can't be limited.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes. The new version appears on this page with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we'll also say so in the app's release notes. Using the app or keeping your subscription after a change means you accept the new terms.
