SpeedCam

A calm heads-up before listed speed cameras ahead of you.

Every speed safety camera program in California, from Los Angeles and Glendale to Long Beach, Malibu, San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose, on one clear map, with spoken alerts only for the cameras on your route. Los Angeles and Glendale are in the app now; the other cities arrive in the next update.

Camera lists can be incomplete or out of date. Always obey posted speed limits.

Coming soon to the App Store. In private beta now.

An alert half a mile before a camera ahead of you.

Built for the drive

Know before you get there.

Alerts that understand where you are heading, a Drive mode you can read at a glance, and data that lives on your phone.

Heads-up alerts

Hear about the camera before you reach it.

The app looks at the road ahead, not behind. It alerts you only for listed cameras in your direction of travel, at the distance you choose: a quarter mile, half a mile or a full mile.

  • A spoken alert, a sound, a haptic tap and a notification. Turn voice, sound and haptics on or off.
  • Never the same camera twice within ten minutes.
  • Honest labels: confirmed live, or listed by the city with activation unconfirmed.
Drive mode and Live Activity

Everything you need. Nothing you don’t.

A large, high-contrast view with your speed and the distance to the next camera ahead. The screen stays awake, and a Live Activity keeps the next camera on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.

  • Start with one tap from a widget, Control Center, the Action button or Siri.
  • Keeps alerting when your iPhone is locked.
  • Optional Background Alerts warn you even when the app is closed.
Apple Watch

A tap on your wrist.

Glance at the nearest camera, or the next one ahead while you drive. When an alert fires, your Apple Watch taps your wrist, so your eyes can stay on the road.

Offline-first

Works without a connection.

The camera list is built into the app, so the map, the list and search work offline. Alerts need only GPS, not a data connection, so they keep working in canyons and dead zones. About once a day, the app quietly checks for updated camera data.

  • Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show the nearest camera.
  • Ask Siri for the nearest speed camera without opening the app.
No data connection needed
Privacy

Your location stays on your iPhone.

Distances and alerts are worked out on your device. The app never sends your location to us or to any third party. There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to.

Thoughtful, down to the details.

  • Honest about status

Each camera is a stretch of street between two cross streets, labeled confirmed live or activation unconfirmed. Approximate locations say so.

  • Know the rules

A plain-language guide to California’s AB 645: when a camera issues a notice, the warning periods, fines and who receives the notice.

  • One-tap directions

Open driving directions to any camera in Apple Maps or Google Maps, or on the Google Maps website if the app isn’t installed. Share a camera or save it as a favorite.

  • Widgets and controls

See the nearest camera on your Home Screen or Lock Screen, and start Drive mode from Control Center or the Action button.

  • Siri and Shortcuts

“Nearest speed camera in SpeedCam.” Get an answer or directions with your voice, or start and end Drive mode from Siri or a Shortcuts automation.

  • Made for everyone

VoiceOver labels throughout, Dynamic Type, a high-contrast Drive mode, and symbols as well as colors on the map.
